What We Do
The Sarnia Bluewater Chordsmen are a group of about 22 men who get together for the pure joy of singing and entertaining in the barbershop style. Barbershop harmony is a unique style of unaccompanied singing in which four distinct voices harmonize. The lead usually sings the melody; the tenor harmonizes above the melody; the bass sings the lowest level harmonizing notes and the baritone provides the in-between notes. The final result is pure harmony.
The chorus and its quartets are very active in the community, making appearances at local churches, community events, fundraisers, schools, nursing homes etc. We also routinely perform at the Lambton County Music Festival. To fund our programs and charities we offer Singing Valentines, put on a Annual Benefit Christmas Concert and hold an annual show in the spring at the Imperial Theatre.
We have also performed at high profile events like the opening of the Sarnia Imperial Theatre, the dedication of the second span of the Bluewater Bridge and as a backup chorus in the very successful Starbright Christmas show.
Through our principal charity (Harmonize for Speech) we, and other barbershop choruses across Ontario, raise money to aid people suffering from speech disorders such as stuttering and aphasia. We also have a youth outreach program which provides funding to Sarnia and area schools to assist with their music programs.
The Bluewater Chordsmen have raised over $100,000 since 1977 for Harmonize for Speech and over $50,000 for school music programs since 2001.These music programs are funded through Sing Canada.

Members of the Bluewater Chordsmen performed for the Parkinson's Support Group Sarnia Lambton and presented them with a cheque for $700.00. This was the Gross proceeds from our 2019 Benefit Christmas Concert held December 1, 2019 at All Saints Church.The Bluewater Chordsmen believe strongly in community service and supporting local organizations,
