Jubilation Barbershop quartet formed in 1995. They performed together until 2010 when they decided to disbanded due to family commitments. Jubilation reunited in the fall of 2015 and made the Bluewater Chordsmen’s Annual Benefit Christmas Concert in December their first public appearance. All four members of Jubilation are active and devoted members of the Sarnia Bluewater Chordsmen. All act as directors, coaches, section leaders, serve on the Music Committee and are also part of the chapter executive. We are all Ontario District Barbershoppers of ReKnown . The quartet provides the foundation for the newly formed Bluewater Chordsmen ensemble “Briarfield Boys.” The members of Jubilation love the thrill and excitement of singing well and performing for great audiences.
Jubilation practices on a weekly basis. They have a repertoire of familiar tunes including everything from old and new secular music to traditional hymns and gospel music. Our goal is to sing well, perform well and bring smiles to those in the audience.
Jubilation has been very active over the years. Their biggest thrill was to be the opening act for John McDermott at the Dow People Place in 1995. Over the years we have sung at banquets, for service club meetings, seniors groups and performed in many churches. Jubilation has delivered many singing valentines over the years as well.
Singing Lead in Jubilation is David Crosbie, a 30+ year member of the Bluewater Chordsmen and seasoned veteran of a cappella style music. He can sing all 4 barbershop parts and serves as Musical Director and President of the Bluewater Chordsmen. David and his wife Lynn live in Sarnia. They have a daughter Cassie who will be attending Northern High School. David has sung in previous quartets (Sound Reason and Harmony Quest) and has also sung with the London Men of Accord and London Forest City Fire choruses.
David and Ian had previously performed together in the "Harmony Quest" quartet from 1988-1992. They won the 1989 Western Division Novice Quartet championship with Harmony Quest.
Singing Bass in Jubilation is Doug Doull, a 30+ year member of the Bluewater Chordsmen. He is presently past President of the Bluewater Chordsmen but has served as President, Historian and served on numerous committees. Doug and his wife Jean reside in Sarnia. Doug is a veteran of Barbershop quartet singing and has sung in such quartets as Just For Fun, OC 4, Four More and Riverside.
Singing Tenor in Jubilation is Dale Werner also a long standing member of the Bluewater Chordsmen. He has also been a member of the London Men of Accord and a chorus in the Maritimes. Dale is originally from the Simcoe area and now resides in Sarnia with his wife Diane. Dale has also had previous quartet experience singing in Tunerville Trolley, Four In Aide, OC 4 and Four More.
Singing Baritone in Jubilation is Ian Crosbie. Ian is originally from Brigden and now lives in Sarnia. Ian is also a 30+ year member of the Bluewater Chordsmen and seasoned veteran of a cappella style music. He can sing all 4 barbershop parts and is presently Assistant Director and vocal coach of the Chordsmen. He also has served as President and Music Vice President. Ian works for Comfort Inn in Sarnia. Ian is no stranger to the music circle and has performed with numerous groups such as the Polysar Glee Club and the Nightingale Chorus. He has also sung with the London Men of Accord and London Forest City Fire choruses. Ian prior quartets were Harmony Quest and Resolution prior to joining Jubilation.. His biggest thrill was to open a show for John McDermott here in Sarnia a few years ago while singing in the quartet “Jubilation”
Jubilation pride themselves on serving within the community. They are all very proud “Ambassadors of Music” through their singing hobby. Through the Sarnia Bluewater Chordsmen’s "Harmonize for Speech" service project, we assist people with speech and hearing difficulties and also supports student music programs.
